“Variation is a way of producing notes of multiple musical phrases through changes to a theme. The modifications can be of different natures: melodic (the subject undergoes a modification such as one recognizes it in spite of different intervals), rhythmic one (one modifies the relative values of the notes of homogeneous way or not), harmonic (one modifies of a sensible way the tone and harmony accompanying the theme). These various modes of variation can be combined with one another, and the initial theme can become almost unrecognizable. Those are the variations that I chose to explore since 2014. “Vahid Mohammadi
